Photography II: The Art & Craft of Better Seeing
September 2 – October 6
In this intensive, hands-on class, we’ll combine field shoots with classroom sessions as we explore composition and design, light, “creative” photography methods, editing techniques to optimize your images, and the art of “seeing” and making photographs. The first class starts with a classroom session and then an evening field shoot. From then on we’ll meet twice a week – once via Zoom for about an hour to review images from the previous week and then the next day for an evening field shoot. Click here for more information.
Intro to Photography: How to Make Better Pictures

The class is for anyone (beginner or experienced) who wants to learn to make better photographs with your digital camera. We will cover the essentials of good photography, including your camera’s controls, the principles of good composition and how and why to stop using automatic (and when to use it) and how to use shutter speed and aperture to craft your pictures. We’ll cover different types of photography, including landscape, nature, family, travel and more. Acadia Fall Photography Adventure
October 22-25
Join me and a small group of photographers to photograph Maines majestic Acadia National Park at the height of the fall foliage season. In this 4-day/3-night workshop we’ll explore the dramatic Acadian coastline and its rocky shores, along with its colorful woodlands and picturesque harbors. We’ll also venture into surrounding areas and over to the Schoodic Peninsula, including Schoodic Point and nearby fishing villages. Our days will include sunrise/morning and afternoon/sunset field shoots. In addition, if the skies cooperate, we’ll venture out at night to photograph the Milky Way over the Acadian landscape.
